Scott Barry Kaufman, Ph.D. is Scientific Director of The Imagination Institute in the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Kaufman investigates the development and measurement of intelligence, creativity, and personality. He has six books, including Ungifted: Intelligence Redefined and The Philosophy of Creativity (with Elliot Samuel Paul). Kaufman completed his doctorate in cognitive psychology from Yale University in 2009 and received his masters degree in experimental psychology from Cambridge University in 2005, where he was a Gates Cambridge Scholar.

THE SOLUTION

The goal of this project was to create a website to be used for fans and listeners to connect easily to Kaufman and The Psychology Podcast.

The podcast was featured in the December 2014 issue of NY Magazine and has achieved around 15K visitors in its first month of launch.

In order to create a great, new experience for the user, we took into account the needs of mobile devices, tablets, and desktops alike. The site was created with intent for use in all the modern browsers.

For preliminary research, we held client discussions which defined the end-user, as well as conducted a competitive analysis in order to explore the competition.

We then created new brand assets including a new logo, chose fonts, and selected colors. We also acquired photography and selected social media icons for use throughout the site.

The new site was developed with WordPress, making it simple for the client to upload new items to the site, and change current images and verbiage throughout the site. The site child-theme was created on the Twenty-Thirteen theme foundation, with a completely custom homepage. The site is responsive and coded with CSS3 and HTML5. The TPP site included a custom-developed header on the homepage, which displays recently posted items in a slideshow.

We also included plugins for analytics, and integrated Mailchimp for inbound marketing for the Podcast.

Managed Solutions, LLC

HELPING BRIDGE THE GAP

Managed Solutions, LLC is a strategic consulting & communications company. Managed Solutions, LLC combines 30 years of experience in Health Economics, Payer Research, and Managed Market Analytics, for the healthcare industry. They help health plans get to know pharmaceutical companies’ products better.

THE SOLUTION

The goal of this project was to improve the image of Managed Solutions, LLC online. The previous MSLLC site was created with tables and had many pain-points. With this iteration, we improved upon almost all of these points, in order to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for the end-user across browsers and devices.

In order to create a great, new experience for the user, we took into account the needs of mobile devices, tablets, and desktops alike. The site was created with intent for use in all the modern browsers, including IE8, as much of this particular industry uses IE8.

The project began with preliminary market research, including discussions about the target audience and overviews of current site analytics, as well as a competitive analysis.

We then created new brand assets including a new vector logo illustration (implemented as SVG on the site with PNG fallback), new fonts, and improved colors. We also acquired photography and designed a fresh icon set for usage throughout the site.

Once the assets were created, we created photoshop mockups with stock photography and placeholder text.

The new site was developed with WordPress, making it simple for the client to upload new items to the site and change current images and verbiage throughout the site. The site child-theme was created on the Twenty-Thirteen theme foundation, with a completely custom homepage. In using WordPress, we were able to improve the usability of the site, the ability to iterate, and the ability to track usage through analytics using Jetpack. It was created to be a fully responsive website, and coded with CSS3 and HTML5.

STARTING AT THE LINE

Your Starting Line is a personal training and fitness business located in Center City, Philadelphia. Your Starting Line is owned and operated by Chris Agresta. Agresta offers her years of fitness knowledge and experience to new clients. Your Starting Line offers training to both novices as well as seasoned athletes.

BUILDING THE BRAND

In 2013, before Chris Agresta opened the doors to Your Starting Line, she asked Be Wise to help her create a brand, image, and website, to help her build credibility and attract new business. We partnered with Simon Rogers and Transfer Creative to create the Your Starting Line brand. We consulted with YSL and local designer, Simon Rogers, to create a strong, unique image that sets the YSL apart from other training businesses in the area.

We began by carefully crafting the user experience by defining conversions, creating persona documents that detailed the ideal user, and mapped their path through the site to achieve those conversions. We then created simple wireframe sketches to give the layout of the website. We then fleshed out the wireframes into two design options.

The website was developed with Google Calendar integration, Instagram integration, WordPress blog integration, social media integration, including Facebook and Twitter, and a complete online storefront through Shopify.

We also created a system for YSL’s blog and social media to propagate using the If This Than That automation system.

GIVING STUDENTS A FRESH START

Fresh Start Foods is a non-profit organization that endeavors to provide healthy prepared meals for students and communities as well as training toward rewarding career paths for young adults.

THE SOLUTION

Working with Fresh Start Foods was a challenge from a branding perspective. We worked together to create a brand from scratch, including colors and fonts, that would reach their target audience and convey the “gourmet food” feel. Once we identified their target audience, we were able to create a responsive site that was beautiful and effective in reaching their audience and garnering new interest in the Fresh Start Foods brand. The site features direct MailChimp integration so that Fresh Start Foods could increase the amount of recipients on their email list. It also features CSS3 animations. The website also uses SVG files for graphics which look stunning on Retina Displays. I also worked with FSF to create custom icons for the website. We created the site template using a modular system that is built with PHP.

LBI Direct

LBI Direct

ONLINE TRAFFIC ALL THE WAY TO THE BEACH

LBI Direct is the definitive source for real estate listings and new homes in Long Beach Island, NJ. Rick Jones, creator of LBI Direct, is one of the premier real estate agents on Long Beach Island. He has been associated with the G. Anderson Agency since the fall of 2000 and has Circle of Excellence recognition from the NJ Association of Realtors every year since he started.

THE SOLUTION

In Phase I of this project, we collaborated with Rick Jones of LBI Direct and the folks at H&H Media to create a new website for LBI Direct. We completely rebranded the business complete with a new logo and color scheme. We used the WordPress platform that was preconfigured by H&H Media, and created our own skin with CSS.

In Phase II of the project, the goal was to drive new traffic to the website. We did extensive keyword research, and examined existing data through Google Analytics to start to create a solution. We used this data to tweak the Title tags, and overall SEO of the LBIDirect.net website. We also collaborated with Brent Zahradnik, a local Google AdWords specialist, to create highly targeted Google Ads based on analytics and keyword research.

In Phase III, we continued collaboration with Brent Zahradnik and Rick Jones to create a MailChimp campaign that included a new, beautiful template, and a central location for Rick to reach his mailing list of more than 1,250 potential customers. To augment the existing Google Adwords campaign, we created and A/B tested two landing pages with optimized domains.

The campaign resulted in increased organic search traffic, increased paid search traffic, increased placement in search engine results, and increased mailing list signups.
